Security Guard vs. Professional Bodyguard: What’s the Difference?
A security guard monitors a site, an entrance, or a perimeter. A bodyguard (EP) protects a physical person — often on the move and exposed to real threats. Posture, behavior, mental readiness, and reflexes are entirely different. A bodyguard is trained to observe, anticipate, and respond — never to improvise.

Defensive & Evasive Driving and Mobile Escort Tactics
In modules EP1, EP2, and EP3, you will learn how to manage client mobility in sensitive urban environments. Our sessions cover:
- Fundamentals of defensive driving (tactical braking, road environment awareness)
- Planning and executing a secure motorcade escort
- Managing unexpected situations and vehicle-based threats (roadblocks, carjackings, surveillance)
- Radio coordination with the in-vehicle protection team
🛡️ These techniques are practiced through simulations and adapted to the Canadian context, with or without firearms.

Private Investigation License: What You Need to Know
Some of our trainees choose to move toward surveillance, risk analysis, or private investigation work. In Quebec, a private investigator license issued by the BSP is required to operate legally.
💡 Important: Our academy does not issue this license. However, our EP2 and EP3 modules include practical foundations (observation, surveillance, behavioral analysis) that are highly valuable for future private investigators.

Bilingualism, Communication, and Working Conditions
📢 Bilingualism is mandatory. Our agents must be able to interact with artists, executives, public figures, and international guests — in both French and English.
🎙️ Presentation, body language, and discreet communication are core components of our evaluation process. A professional bodyguard doesn’t just “watch” — they understand, anticipate, and act.

FAQ – Leader Security Protection: Complete Security Agency in Canada
Where do you provide executive protection services?Leader Security Protection operates in Montreal and Quebec City, with additional teams in Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, Vancouver and other major cities across Canada.
We also support U.S. or international clients with tailored close protection operations through our elite-trained agents and executive logistics network.
Do you work with celebrities, CEOs, or diplomats?Yes. We provide close protection to high-profile clients such as celebrities, touring artists, executives, public figures, athletes, and dignitaries — with full discretion and operational integrity.
What certifications do your agents have? Our agents are certified by recognized organizations including:
- NABA – North American Bodyguard Association
- BEPP – Board of Executive Protection Professionals
- ASIS International
We also prioritize continued education and tactical readiness in executive protection, defensive driving, surveillance detection, and VIP protocol management.
What’s the difference between a security guard and a bodyguard?A security guard protects buildings, sites, or entrances. A bodyguard (executive protection agent) protects an individual — often in motion — and is trained to anticipate, prevent, and respond to direct threats. The mindset, posture, and reflexes are vastly different.
Do you offer secure VIP driving services?Yes. Our executive protection drivers are trained in defensive and evasive driving, offering secure, low-profile transportation between airports, hotels, events, and private residences.
Do you conduct a risk assessment before each mission?Yes. We always perform a detailed threat and vulnerability assessment prior to any assignment. This includes route analysis, client routine mapping, environment profiling, and establishing contingency protocols. No mission is improvised.
Can I train directly abroad instead?Yes — and we actually encourage serious candidates to explore respected programs abroad such as ICON, ESI, EPI, LaSorsa, or Robert L. Oatman & Associates, to further develop their executive protection expertise.
These programs vary in cost and structure — from a few thousand dollars to more comprehensive options — so it really depends on your budget and availability to travel.
👉 That’s exactly why our academy was created: to offer a strong and credible foundation right here in Canada, with instructors who have completed these very same programs abroad — making elite-level training more accessible locally.
